Mohammad Ataul Karim is Founder and Executive Director of CLIP. He is an advocate (Supreme Court of Bangladesh), academic, and legal researcher. He worked in several academic and research positions: Senior Lecturer of Law at East West University, Dhaka, Bangladesh (2015-2020), Tutor at LLM in Intellectual Property and Competition Law, MIPLC-Max Planck Institute for Innovation and Competition, Munich, Germany (2021-23), IPR Researcher at IPR and Academic Policy Division, Ericsson, Munich, Germany (2021-22), Consultant at The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), Geneva, Switzerland (2022). He obtained an LLB (Honours) and LLM from the University of Dhaka, an LLM in Intellectual Property (Patents and Designs Law) from the WIPO Academy and Ankara University, and an LLM in Intellectual Property and Competition Law from the MIPLC-Max Planck Institute for Innovation and Competition, Germany. His research papers have been published in well-reputed academic journals, including Queen Mary Journal of Intellectual Property Law, Journal of Intellectual Property and Practice, and Journal of World Intellectual Property. He was awarded the University Grants Commission (UGC, Bangladesh) Gold Medal in 2016 by the Honourable President of Bangladesh for his research publication in law. His current areas of interest are: Intellectual Property, Innovation, and Competition law.
